About The Neighborhood
N. Kolin Avenue is a two flat rental apartment building in West Garfield Park. Originally known as “Central Park” on its founding in 1870, the park was renamed in commemoration of President Garfield in 1881. A horseracing track was built in the park soon after and hosted Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show and other events until it closed in 1892. With the track's closure and the construction of the nearby Sears manufacturing plant, West Garfield Park shifted from entertainment and night life and became instead a family-oriented, residential neighborhood. Today, Garfield Park itself with its golden-domed pavilion, boating lagoon, and rare plant Conservatory, is one of Chicago's most beloved recreational areas.
