About The Neighborhood
East 91st Street is a 2 unit rental apartment building in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood. Chatham was settled in the mid 19-th century by immigrants seeking employment in the steel mills and factories along the nearby lakeshore. In the 1870s, the area was urbanized to support the construction and operation of the Illinois Central rail line.
Chatham's largest expansion occurred during the 1920s and 1930s. It was during this time that many of the distinctive bungalows and brick two-flats that line the streets were built. East 91st Street is a vintage example of this popular architectural style.
